McLaughlin man sentenced on burglary conviction

Jack Daniel Thomas, 31, of McLaughlin was sentenced to 18 months in federal prison, followed by three years of supervised release, and ordered to pay a $100 special assessment to the Federal Crime Victims Fund and over $5,000 in restitution to several victims.

Home schooling allows flexibility for both parents and students

Home schooling rates in South Dakota have been rising since 2020, according to an article from Johns Hopkins University. The article claims that over 12,000 students in South Dakota are home schooled.The Covid pandemic (2020-2023) had an obvious effect on these numbers, as many schools went remote.
